Why Meadowcroft Farm? Farm to Textile
The Sheep
We started with hearty island sheep chosen for their soft and shiny handspinning fleeces and excellent mothering ability. Bred to Autralian Merinos, then Leicester breeds, then back to Merino, the sheep are raised on pasture and maintained for fine apparel fiber production.

The Wool
Each Fleece is handled as though for hand-spinning, shaking out any short bits that might pill. Other luxury fibers may be blended to assure the right mix of soft and springy with luster and integrity, and to minimize felting and increase wearability. Every year is slight different, which is why we’re called a Yarnery.
The Yarn
Hand dyed in our solar process back at the farm, the mineral dyes are fixed in seawater and applied directly in the skeins. The colors are varielated as we see them in nature. Soft wool with no chemical itch or harsh boil, each dye list is small, only 2-4 lbs, one of a kind, and as whimsical as our New England weather.

The Sweaters
Designed with the strength of each knitter in mind, the peces are hand loomed by local artisans and finished with their own special touches including my handspun, beachsone, or seaglass buttons. One of a kind, each garment is as unique as the person who wears it.
