Almost a frost this morning, winter will soon be nipping at our heels. But not yet.

This weekend is the MAINE FIBER TOUR AND TRAIL, with lots of locations open around the state hoping to educate, entice, or simply offer a glimpse of a life with less plastic and more wool power (or other fiber).
I will be at my usual corner at the Bath Farmer’s Market on Saturday, with FIRST QUALITY DISCOUNT NAPPER BLANKETS ($100 discount, while they last), as well as sweaters and yarns and free patterns with yarn purchase. Seacolors Yarnery at Meadowcroft Farm will be open 10-3 on Sunday and Monday, offering Fun Soap felting just in time to make all your easy Holiday gifts, and spooky critter felting just in time to decorate.

I will set up in the FiberShed Sun 13/Mon 14 from 10-3 offering help to “Design your own Sweater” kits, or have us make your own One-of-a-Kind. This is a repeat of last year, and an opportunity to get fitted with colors and size exactly as you want. There will also be discounted blankets and all the soft woolies for sale, including awesome offerings from THIS SUMMER’S OTHER, LOCAL, SPECIAL GUEST STARS!

SUNDAY MAKE AND TAKE WORKSHOPS

10:30 and 1:00:
Soap felting with Heidi McCaffery. Learn to felt wool over soap to make your soap last longer and give it a little texture for a better scrub. $10/bar, local goat soap from Ledgeway Farm. Heidi also offers amazing felted “Humane Hides” that she offers as throw pillows, boas, chair covers or rugs. Very cool gifts, or just treat yourself!

Noon and 2:00:
Kristen Bishop will be teaching critter felting, including bats and other seasonal items, one kit for $15, or all three for $40. Stay and play, lots of space. Kristen will also have her own felted creations for sale, and I bet if we ask nicely, she will bring her goat cheese too!

Sandy Grecenko will be doing FREE demonstrations of Angora Bunny care and Humane Fiber Harvest. If anyone wants to learn to crochet, she will have kits available for $20 and will teach one on one. Just come! She can also do the same One on One crochet Monday after 11, upstairs in the heated Cuckoo’s Nest BnB. Sandy also sells yarn of different bunny blends, fiber for spinning or blending, and crochet items because quite frankly, she can’t keep her hands still.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU! And promise a tea bar for chilly hands. Will be fun to see friends from the road here where the sheep roam. Anyone wanting a quick buggy tour, let me know, and stay after 3. Always fun. And I will need to go feed Cecil, who will be happy for brief human company.

And in case you did not get to see it… HERE’S LAST NIGHT’S AURORA. Right over head. Wow.
